Belated May Recap

Some months are full of books and audiobooks. Others just aren't.

A huge stressful work project in May kept me from being able to fully concentrate on reading. I have no idea how many books were started, stopped, started again, and finally put down because I lacked the focus needed to read. A full shelf of library books had to be returned unread (which almost killed me, as several of the titles have been on my to-read list for months).

I'm actually pretty surprised at how many I did finish - and review. Here's the rundown:

Bite Me, Your Grace by Brooklyn Ann

Boundary Crossed by Melissa F. Olson

Eighth Grave After Dark by Darynda Jones (audiobook)

The Iron Seas books
The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook (audiobook)
Heart of Steel by Meljean Brook (audiobook)

Love in the Time of Scandal by Caroline Linden (reviewed)

Lumberjanes #1 by Noelle Stevenson (graphic novel)

MiNRS by Kevin Sylvester (ARC)

Ms. Marvel vol. 1: No Normal by G. Willow Wilson (graphic novel)

Sisters of Blood and Spirit by Kady Cross (reviewed)

Witchling by Yasmin Galenorn (audiobook)

Several of these are series that I've been wanting to read, or authors/series I already follow. Keep your eyes open for a few review from this batch as well.

April was for audiobooks....

I have fallen in love with audiobooks. They're just so perfect for times that I can't physically read a book: when housecleaning or working out at the gym, while knitting or driving (or working)...any time my hands are busy with other tasks. If I don't have one going and at least two lined up I start to get twitchy, which is why I now use two library mp3 download services and have subscribed to Audible. Yep, I'm addicted.

My listening/reading was all over the place in April - juvenile, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and plain old fantasy (well...fantasy satire, if that's even a category).

April reads
Dark Descendent by Jenna Black (audiobook)
Entity Mine (Chimera Chronicles #2) by Karin Shah
Ennara and the Book of Shadows by Angela Myron
Full Moon Rising (Riley Jensen Guardian #1) by Keri Arthur (audiobook)
No Refuge by Annie Nicholas (novella)
The Sweet Spot by Stephanie Evanovich (audiobook)
The Truth by Terry Pratchett (audiobook)

March (Reading) Madness

My Molly Harper obsession carried me into March, but toward the middle of the month I caught the flu. Sadly, I was too miserable to even consider pulling out a book, and that put me two weeks behind on all of my reading. Then I got bogged down by a book that was readable, but not terribly exciting. I had to finish it, since I was reviewing it for a publication, but it seemed to take forever. And to keep myself on task, I avoided starting any "fun" books, knowing that if I did I'd abandon the required novel. Thank goodness for audiobooks, which I was able to read when print books just weren't possible (i.e. at the gym, while cleaning house, as I got ready for work in the morning, etc.)

March Reads
The Dangers of Dating a Rebound Vampire by Molly Harper (Half Moon Hollow #3)

I'm Dreaming of an Undead Christmas by Molly Harper (Half Moon Hollow novella)

Moving Pictures by Sir Terry Pratchett (audiobook)

The Naked Werewolf series by Molly Harper (audiobooks)
Book 1: How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf
Book 2: The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf
Book 3: How to Run with a Naked Werewolf

The Truth About My Success by Dyan Sheldon

Vicious by V.E. Schwab

I have a ton of titles waiting for my attention in April, and I can't decide what to read next - I love it when that happens!
